Project Spotlight: DMC Universe – Your Portal to the MetaChain Galaxy

Image
DeFiChain’s vibrant community has a shared vision of furthering decentralized finance. Talented builders and stakeholders are continually pushing the ecosystem forward.  Today, we’re spotlighting one such contributor – DMC Universe. DMC Universe aspires to be the central hub for all projects building on DeFiChain’s MetaChain layer.  We recently sat down with co-founders Peddy and 0ptim to learn more about their motivations and future plans.  From DeFiChain Enthusiasts to Ecosystem Builders Peddy first discovered DeFiChain in 2021 and quickly became a DFI holder. Enthused by the possibilities of decentralized finance, he began producing a DeFiChain-focused podcast called InTheMarket, allowing him to connect more deeply with the community. He was inspired to translate his enthusiasm into a more direct contribution after meeting the core DeFiChain team in Singapore. 0ptim learned about Bitcoin in 2015 during its meteoric rise but only jumped into the crypto world fully in 20...

How to Transfer $DFI From a DeFiChain Wallet to MetaMask

Image
Want to transfer your $DFI from the DeFiChain Light Wallet over to MetaMask to use it on the new MetaChain layer? Follow this quick step-by-step guide to seamlessly transfer funds between the two wallets. This straightforward process only takes a few minutes, but it opens up a whole new world of possibilities with your $DFI now being accessible via MetaMask on DeFiChain's EVM layer. Read on to learn how to connect your wallets and start capitalizing on MetaChain's ecosystem today. Transfer $DFI from Light Wallet to MetaMask When transferring $DFI between the original DeFiChain chain (DVM) and the new MetaChain layer (EVM), be aware of a key difference. Sending $DFI onto MetaChain (MetaMask) must be initiated from the DVM wallet in your Light Wallet app. You can toggle between viewing your DVM and EVM wallets using the button in the top left of the app. Step 1: Access MetaMask Open your MetaMask extension in the browser. Step 2: Add the DeFiChain Network Visit DeFiChain RPC Main...

The MetaChain Layer is Now LIVE!

Image
In 2020, the landscape of decentralized finance (DeFi) was brimming with potential but fraught with safety and security concerns. It was then that the vision for a non-Turing complete blockchain, exclusively tailored for DeFi, took root.  Fast forward to today, and that vision has not just taken shape but is thriving as a collaborative ecosystem as the next pivotal moment in DeFiChain history comes to fruition: the launch of the MetaChain layer. The MetaChain layer marks the culmination of over two years of steadfast ideation and rigorous development. Its activation is a milestone in advancing blockchain technology to new heights of functionality and reliability and ultimately makes DeFi accessible for everyone. What Does it Mean for DeFiChain? DeFiChain's new Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) layer (MetaChain) marks a major architectural evolution. With the MetaChain layer, DeFiChain can now support EVM transactions while still keeping the security benefits of its UTXO model. How Doe...

DeFiChain Labs Drives Forward With Independent and Bold Vision

Image
DeFiChain is a permissionless blockchain explicitly designed to support decentralized financial applications. It enables users to build and innovate on-chain securely, transparently, and efficiently. We are eagerly anticipating the next milestone in our journey with the integration of the MetaChain (EVM) layer–scheduled to take place on 15th November.  This new EVM layer ushers in a new frontier for seamless cross-chain dApps, beginning the journey toward connecting Bitcoin, Ethereum, DeFiChain, and beyond. Fortified by our expertise and dedication, the DeFiChain Labs team is more determined than ever to grow the ecosystem. We are working diligently to ensure that our community experiences the highest quality of DeFi standards with the utmost transparency. Our continuous efforts aim to fortify DeFiChain as a beacon of decentralization in the blockchain space. With that, DeFiChain Labs would like to reaffirm its complete autonomy from Cake Group ("Cake"). The recent restructur...

Project Spotlight: Ebox – On-chain Escrow Service for DeFiChain

Image
In a recent episode of DeFiChain X community space, Paul, the founder of ebox, provided valuable insights into their mission to protect DeFiChain users. ebox aims to become a sophisticated, smart contract-driven digital escrow service, designed to facilitate seamless fund transfers among multiple parties with minimal errors or failures. This is especially important in light of the substantial losses incurred from incorrect addresses and human errors. Meet the Minds Behind ebox Before we delve into ebox and its work, let's get to know one of its key members, Paul. Paul, originally from Romania and now residing in Austria, is a tech enthusiast who has tinkered with computers since the age of five. He has dabbled in programming and even ventured into the world of reverse engineering. This lifelong curiosity and problem-solving mindset laid the foundation for ebox's unique approach to the crypto space. Paul's journey into the world of cryptocurrency was somewhat unconventional....

What is Turing-Complete?

Image
Consider the humble pocket calculator and home computer. Between the two, which gadget is more functional? The obvious answer is the home computer, as it can run programs for a multitude of computational problems — this makes it Turing complete. As for the calculator, it’s only equipped to handle a limited range of mathematical operations and is thus considered Turing incomplete. As the above illustration demonstrates, Turing completeness refers to the extent of a system’s ability to execute any computational task. The more computational functions a system is able to perform, the more “Turing complete” it becomes.  Turing completeness has been applied to the world of blockchain to assess the capabilities of any given blockchain. Between Bitcoin and Ethereum, for example, Ethereum is Turing complete as it enables developers to write multifaceted programs in Solidity and run them on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).  This is different from Bitcoin, whose underlying Script prog...
