*The dates stated in the table above are all approximated. Refer to the blockheight for the absolute point for each event.

It is important to note that the valid voting period is from the moment the proposal is created until the end of the voting period. However, the proposal must be submitted before the end of the proposal ingestion period to be tallied as that round’s proposal. Submissions later than the proposal ingestion period will be counted for the next round’s CFP even though the community can start voting on the proposal already.

Reason for Irregular Duration of CFP/DFIP Rounds

The gap between the introduction of On-Chain Governance and the most recent CFP/DFIP without On-Chain Governance was more than 2 months. To compensate for this, the first round of CFP/DFIP was intentionally made shorter (81440 blocks) to allow the pent up proposals from that 2 month period to be quickly voted on. However, to shorten the first cycle of CFP/DFIP, the second cycle had to be adjusted due to the technical design of On-Chain Governance. This is the reason why the first and second CFP/DFIP rounds have irregular durations.

Thereafter, from the third round of CFP/DFIP onwards, the proposal submission and the valid voting period will always be fixed at 260,000 blocks (approximately 90 days).
